radiateur thermostat

Bonjour tout,
The work on my C6G progresses slowly, like you I am having difficulty obtaining an exhaust manifold gasket and like you I purchased a cylinder head gasket even though I have no requirement at this time, it probably came from the same guy advertising on ebay.fr as yours.
The other day I removed my radiator surround in order to have it re chromed and found that the thermostat mechanism differs from one pictured on the web site (please see comparison photos) having cleaned the stat I am at a total loss to understand how it should work. I carefuly measured the length of the unit with caliper micrometer, emersed in boiling water for five min and re measuerd - NO CHANGE!!!. The larger rod is solid brass the end tip is steel and the threaede section which appears to run through the entire lenght of the brass section is steel. I believe the brass part is as I say solid and not hollow to contain wax etc.
I would be pleased to know if you have a similar unit mounted top left of the rear of your rad.
Kind regards
Roy
